Song Lyrics

Womanchant [chant]

I
Woman
Clear
Mind
Full
Heart
Overflowing
Flowing
Over
Riverbank
Hold
Not
My
Soul

Heart of the Mother [chant]

Open to the Spirit
Open to your heart
Take time to listen
Take time to see
Take time listen
Take the time to be
In the Heart of the Mother.

Hurricane Song

The water was rising
The people were crying out to God
The city was dying
After the hurricane hit hard.
What will it take for us to know
The power of the rain and winds that blow?
When will we open our eyes
To the oceans and the rives and the tides
And the earth we call our home?
The little boy cried
His heart was already broken
He said his mama had died
And she was lying in the water.
What will it take…
It’s hurricane season
The devastation’s all around
And we’re begging for reasons
As we search for higher ground.
What will it take…

Healer of Hearts

When I first began to know you I was locked in pain and grief
Searching for an answer and desperate for relief
Our connection made me stronger as you tried to help me see
That all I had to do was let the love flow.
You’re a healer of hearts, a kind and gentle man
Owning a wisdom few can understand
Your own heart is strong enough
To bear the pain of others
And the love that you carry is unbounded.
Your strength comes from the mountains, from the earth and from the trees
The visions in your mind are what your heart can clearly see
I’d like to know you better and I’d like to be your friend
And help you tell the world to let the love flow.
You’re a healer of hearts…
Oh yes, the love that you carry is unbounded.

The Comfort of Loving Arms

As dreams go by between the earth and sky
I wonder why I take what I am given
In times of trouble I can see the way I’d like my life to be
My life to be
To be held in the comfort of loving arms
To be cradled and rocked while I cry (2x)
And as I go I feel the ground below
I’d like to know the way for love to touch me
It’s getting clearer day by day that I will have to find a way
To find a way.
To be held…
In the secret spaces of my heart there is a yearning
For the time when I will know that I am free
To be held…

Blades of Grass

Like blades of grass we all blow in the same direction
Bending different ways, but dancing to the same tune
We’re each alone and we are all together
We dream on our own, but dance to the same tune.
Life is like a melody full of choruses
Full of surprises and shocks
It gets under our skin and into our bones
And it makes us feel like we’ve never felt before.

Heartsong

I came from the city to the mountain
It was quite a long time ago
I came with my heart and my little ones
To the snow.
An old friend had come back to see me
After eight long years away
He showed me the way to the mountain
And told me to stay.
And the wild sage grew all around me
The trees grew high in the air
The peace in my heart was like nothing I’d ever known
And love was there.
The cabin looked over a valley
On the side of a sugared hill
My life was sweet and simple then
I had time to fill.
I learned to stay warm by a coal stove
And water was brought from the town
Our music made everything easy
When the sun went down.
And the wild sage…
My children are no longer little ones
I’ve not seen my friend in a while
I think of those days in the wilderness
And I smile.
And sometimes I sit on the mountain
My memories call back the years
I sit and I sing you my heartsong
And smile through the tears.
And the wild sage grows all around me
The trees grow high in the air
The peace in my heart is like nothing I’ve ever known
And love is there.

Prayer for Myself

Let in the light of sweet forgiveness
Let it shine around my heart
Let the sweet smell of flowers in the morning
Carry me forever.
Let me shine like the sunlight on the ocean
Let me run with the rivers to the sea
Let me dance like the raindrops on the water
Falling down on me.
Let me stand in the splendor of the mountains
Let me sing with the power of the earth
Let me reach for the stars in the heavens
Gazing down on me.
Let me burn like the fire in the sunset
Let me rise with the moon up in the sky
Let me move with the changing of the seasons
Seasons everchanging.
Let my heart be a flower for the ages
Let my eyes see a vision for the world
Let my mind be an anchor in the harbor
Holding me together.
So, let in the light of sweet forgiveness
Let it shine around my heart
Let the sweet smell of flowers in the morning
Carry me forever.
Let the light of sweet forgiveness
Carry me forever.

Wandering Woman

Her power is in exile, her strength almost gone
Pain and grief have taken their toll
She moves in the water, the earth, and the sky
She holds a raging fire in her soul.
Wandering Woman searching for her power
Carrying centuries of love in her heart
The force of her energy will light up the world
And guarantee the life of the heart.
She wanders in the mountains where continents divide
She swims in the rivers to the sea
The moon and stars are in her eyes, the light is all around
Giving hope for peace and unity.
Wandering Woman…
She’s given life to millions, she’s taken life away
She knows the pain and joy of giving birth
She’s grounded in the passion and magic of her soul
Her love is in the children of the earth.
Wandering Woman…
She’s searching for her brother, she’s searching for her friend
Her love grows stronger every day
She’s reaching out for unity, she’s reaching out for love
The promise is enough to make her stay.
Wandering Woman…

Where Rivers Run

Where rivers run forests will rise
Reaching to touch stars in the skies
Winding their way rivers run deep
Oceans of love rock me to sleep.
Rivers will run down to the sea
Knowing that they will cease to be
Dark clouds will rain down from the sky
Water and earth, rivers so high.
So fill up my heart with oceans of love
Shower the earth, rain from above
Tell everyone that they’re going to let me down easy
when I’m done.
Where rivers run forests will rise
Reaching to touch clouds in the sky
Winding their way rivers run deep
Oceans of love rock me to sleep.
